TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Metro Jaya Police Department Chief Inspector General Tito Karnavian said Jakarta’s security system ranks 50, from 50 major cities in Asia. One issue is that Jakarta lacks digital security. “There are no comprehensive CCTV cameras in Jakarta. It only has NTMC and several from private sectors,” Tito said in City Hall on Monday, December 7.
Tito expects the Jakarta governor’s program to install 6,000 CCTVs in the capital could be implemented next year, so it could immediately monitor the entire capital.
Besides CCTV, other security systems that the capital do not have is an emergency call. Emergency system is highly necessary for society who are in need of emergeny assistance. For example, a woman who is walking alone at midnight and followed by a stalker or gets a heart attack.
“The Governor already has an idea for that, a 119 call. It could be integrated with the police, ambulance, and fire department,” said Tito.
